As with education the residential provision is organised in such a way as to encourage learners to move on during their time at St. John’s to increasingly challenging and independent settings. The major move comes at the age of 16 when learners transfer from the School in Seaford to either the 6th Form or to the College in Brighton.
The College has a number of residential houses providing for a range of learners and placement in a house will depend on level of need and progress towards independence. All resident learners will have an Individual Care Plan which assists the key worker and the care team in identifying particular areas of need and in setting targets together with the young person. These targets will plot each young person’s progress along the pathway to independence. |
