| Supporting Transition |
|
Supporting our learners with transition is a predominant feature of College programmes with significant input from our Therapy team. A coordinated Induction Programme for new learners is a strong feature of the first term of a placement and enables learners to familiarise themselves with a new environment, peers and staff teams. The final year of all learner programmes will focus on ‘Moving On’, delivered and supported by multidisciplinary teams. Working in partnership with parents, carers and future placements, our detailed Transition Plans and Communication Passports help prepare each leaner for the exciting challenges ahead. Throughout each learner’s college career, a number of transitions naturally emerge. For example; experiencing a new environment (a short course at a local tertiary college), adjusting to a new setting (moving to a supported living facility) or starting a new learning experience (in a social enterprise or work placement). Each will be accompanied by a range of strategies and resources to support a learner to experience a positive transition. All transition programmes contribute to our Foundation Learning programme accredited by OCR.
