St. John's is staffed by a highly skilled, experienced and dedicated staff team.

We employ approximately 200 permanent staff across our Education, Care, Medical & Therapy, Ancillary and Administration departments. A great many of our staff are highly qualified professionals and of our support staff have a variety of appropriate professional & vocational qualifications.

All of our staff, regardless of their role, are experts in the support and protection of children and young adults and share a commitment to enabling our learners to achieve their personal goals and aspirations.

We are passionate about the continuous professional development of our staff team and have a busy in house training programme and NVQ centre.

We recognise that our staff teams work in a challenging but highly rewarding environment and, in addition to their being tremendously supportive of one another, we seek to support them through the provision of occupational health services, health benefits and a confidential telephone and face to face counselling service. We also operate a childcare voucher scheme and support a 'bike to work' and salary sacrifice travel card scheme.

We have developed a bank of around 70 casual staff who undergo the same rigorous recruitment procedures as our permanent staff and who access our in house training programmes. Having our own bank staff ensures that our learners and residents are always cared for and supported by known people.

Our HR Team takes responsibility for all aspects of recruitment, training & development, employee relations and ongoing employee support and is made up of 6 people, all of whom hold CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development) qualifications or verifier and assessor awards appropriate to their role.
