At St John's we have developed our own bank of casual staff to ensure that, even when temporary or additional staff are needed, they are familiar to our learners. This is tremendously helpful in providing a consistent service as some of our young people are unsettled and distressed by new and unknown people. The school and college works on a 'team approach' and you will always be working alongside and under the supervision of members of the permanent team.

Casual bank workers are subject to the same Safer Recruitment Procedures and pre recruitment checks as permanent staff and are required to apply and attend an interview via the normal recruitment process.

By joining the bank you will join a group of people who are willing to provide the organisation with student support services from time to time on a casual basis. Casual workers might be offered shifts in the class room, supporting the learners in accessing the community or working in one of our care houses.

When St. John's has a requirement for work, we will contact you as early as possible and ask whether you are available. However, you are under no obligation to make yourself available for work as St. John's is under no obligation to offer you work. You may be offered work in any department at any of the School or College sites and you will be asked to complete a form to indicate your availability.
