Cornerways is a large house located approximately 2 miles from the main college campus, in the lively Seven Dials area of Brighton. The Seven Dials is a ten minute walk from the main shopping centre and the many attractions of Brighton seafront with the beautiful countryside of the Devils Dyke and the South Downs Way a short drive or bus ride to the north.

Cornerways has recently been entirely refurbished and registered as a home for young adults aged 19 – 25. It offers great opportunities for increasing independence skills as residents travel, with support, to and from the college using the excellent public transport links. Residents who attend courses at the Seaford campus, 12 miles away, use public transport where appropriate whilst others are driven by care staff in one of our people carriers.

The house consists of 6 generously sized and furnished en suite bedrooms and 2 independence flats complete with kitchen and bathroom facilities. All rooms have telephone, internet and Sky TV connection points. Young people are encouraged to bring any items from home to personalise their bedrooms and to put pictures and posters up on their walls if they wish to.

Cornerways residents stay for different lengths of time in between home visits. Some are weekly boarders, others go home every other weekend and some stay for longer periods. The staff team consists of 8 highly trained staff and a Deputy Care Manager working a variety of shifts throughout the week.

Residents are encouraged to help with all aspects of daily living including helping to cook the evening meal and doing their own laundry. Care staff are always at hand to offer appropriate levels of help and support whilst encouraging independence.

Learners have plenty of communal space for relaxing at home, including a communal kitchen/diner, a decked patio garden and a large and comfortable lounge with flat screen TV, Sky+, various games consoles and a PC with internet access. The house is a short walk from local shops, bars and restaurants.
