Creating opportunities

Working with us opens up a huge range of opportunities and benefits to both your organisation and ours.

A number of corporates prefer to donate time to charities these days and where we can accommodate, we enjoy having teams come in to rejuvenate our gardens and communal areas. There is also an option to take part in corporate volunteering at events or offering a taster work experience for any of our young people.

Fundraising for St. John’s or taking part in a volunteer challenge at our college encourages your staff to work together in a different and positive way. Whatever you decide to take part in, you will be making a valuable contribution towards our work.

By supporting our work, your organisation can generate an extremely positive PR message for both internal and external audiences.

How you can help

There are many ways you can support us. We have given you some ideas, but don’t feel limited to them, be as creative as you like! We are happy for you to specify which division you would like your donation to go towards. Remember, it doesn’t matter how much you raise or how small your planned project is, lots of small amounts combine to make a big difference.

  • Choose St. John’s College as your ‘charity of the year’

Do you or the company you work for decide on a charity of the year each year? Choosing St. John's College as your charity of the year is a great way to create new PR opportunities, boost team morale and enhance your company image internally and externally.

  • Sponsor an event

We run regular events for learners, corporates and communities throughout the year. Sponsorship can be anything from £100 to £10,000. Sponsoring an event is a great way to raise awareness of your company among a specific target audience.

Every year we hold a graduation for our learners who have finished their time at St. John’s. This is an emotional but rewarding event, learners look forward to this every year and it’s a goal to attend and collect their award for many of them.

We have in past years asked parents to contribute but this year we would like to offer the event free to all. This is where you can support – please email social.media@st-johns.co.uk for information on this or other sponsorship requests.

Other events throughout the year are – paddle round the pier, alumni events, discos, theatre trips etc…

  • Team Building Opportunities

You could encourage and support your employees to take part in one of our sponsored events. Donate your time and skills: volunteer at one of our services.

Why not share your time and skills with St. John’s?  Taking part in a volunteer challenge for a specific project at one of our services is a great way for you and your staff to give something back. It can also help encourage teamwork, cooperation and boost your company profile in the local community. Here are some ways you can get involved:

    - Help to refurbish and redecorate our school
    - Carry out a gardening project at one of our services -
    - Use your specialist skills to develop the way we work.

Due to the nature of our C&YP we would ask that any requests for team building opportunities will be restricted to half term holidays.

  • Matched funding

If your company runs a matched funding scheme, you could consider match-funding a specific project, or sponsoring your employees to take part in a matched fundraising event on behalf of St. John’s College. Not only will this inspire your staff to give more, it will also boost morale within the workplace and generate positive PR.

  • Work Experience or Work Taster Days

Did you know an employee with autism is more likely to turn up, do the job and stick to the task in hand and take very little time off?

Did you know that many banks and computer companies employ over 80% autistic staff?

We believe it is important to offer our learners all the experiences that anyone else would have to aid independence, communication, skills, wellbeing and employability during their academic career. We are keen to develop these experiences and offer work experience or taster days to our learners, where they can go to work or trail within a corporate setting. For example, learners have been ticket officers at the Volks Railway, Car Valeting at Zest Valeting, Reception Desk at college, kitchen porter at the Bevvy etc… If you think you could offer our learners some work experience please do get in touch!!
