School Governors

Make a Positive Difference

Situated in Brighton and Seaford in East Sussex, St. John’s is a special educational needs (SEN) school and specialist college that provides education, care and medical therapy to young people aged 5 to 25.

We are looking to expand and diversify our governing body with an enthusiastic and committed individual who can make a positive difference to the safety, welfare, and development of our learners across our provisions. As a member of our governing body you will be working closely with our Senior Leadership team.

Our governing body is made up of elected parents, staff, learners, the headteacher of the school and co-opted governors. The school governors meet four times a year. There is also one governor who attends the trustee meetings.

As a governor you must hold an enhanced certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service which we can process for you. You are also expected to undertake relevant training required for the role.

If you are interested in joining our governors, please send an email to Naomi Alder, clerk to the governors on naomi.alder@st-johns.co.uk, outlining the skills and experience that you would bring to the role. We would be pleased to show you the school and to further discuss what the role of governor involves.

We encourage applications from underrepresented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
